  1. Alameda County Advisory Commission on Aging
  • Objective: To act as an independent advocate for older persons as mandated by the Older Americans Act and the Mello-Granlund Older Californians Act by taking positions on matters pertaining to federal, state, and local policies, programs, and procedures, and any legislation affecting older persons.

      • Qualifications: Members shall be older individuals who are participants or who are eligible to participate in programs assisted under this Act, representatives of older individuals, local elected officials, and the general public, to advise continuously the area agency on all matters relating to the development of the area plan, the administration of the plan and operations conducted under the plan.

  1. Alameda County Mental Health Advisory Board
  • Objective: Review and evaluate the Alameda County mental health needs, facilities, services, and special problems. Advise the County Board of Supervisors on any aspect of the local mental health programs. Advise the Alameda County Mental Health Director on any aspect of the local mental health programs. Review any county agreements or contracts entered into pursuant to Section 5650 of the Welfare and Institutions Code. The Mental Health Advisory Board Chair shall submit an annual report at the end of each fiscal year to the County Board of Supervisors on the needs and performance of the county’s mental health system. Review and approve the procedures used to ensure citizen and professional involvement in all stages of the planning process. Review and comment on the county’s performance outcome data and communicate its findings to the California Mental Health Planning Council. Review and make recommendations on applications for the appointment of a local director of mental health to the County Board of Supervisors. The board shall be included in the selection process prior to the vote of the governing body. Pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5604.2(b), the Mental Health Advisory Board shall assess the impact of the realignment of services from the state to the county on services delivered to clients and the local community. Perform any other duties requested by the County Board of Supervisors. The Mental Health Advisory Board shall develop bylaws to be approved by the Board of Supervisors in accordance with Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5604.5.

  1. ALL IN Steering Committee
  • Objective: The Committee is the governing body mandated by the Resolution to oversee and set policy for All In. The Committee shall work cooperatively with the Board of Supervisors to support and guide All In in its mission to eradicate poverty in the County. The Committee shall ensure that All In fulfills its vision and goals: to allow all families in the County to meet their basic needs for shelter, food, safety, and healthcare; earn income that allows for self-sufficiency and asset building; and obtain quality education.

  • Objective: Serves as the Board of Equalization for the County of Alameda.

  1. Consumer Affairs Commission
  • Objective: Established to improve the business climate in Alameda County, educate the citizenry, and advise the Board of Supervisors regarding issues that affect the quality of life for everyone.

  • Meetings: 2nd Thursday of each month from 4 pm to 6 pm, Board Conference Room, 1221 Oak Street, Oakland, CA. The commission shall meet at least ten times a year.

  1. Measure A Citizen Oversight Committee
  • Objective: The committee shall annually review the expenditure of the Essential Health Care Services Tax Fund for the prior year and shall report to BOS on the conformity of such expenditures to the purposes set forth in Paragraph 2.08.251 Measure A Ordinance.

  1. Public Health Commission
  • Objective: To review and assess emerging health needs; initiate and improve health and disease prevention programs and policies; make recommendations regarding opportunities for building community capacity y as related to public health priorities; and advocate for adequate resources and increased County action to improve community health.

  1. Reparations Commission
  • Objective: The scope and purpose of the Commission is to create a draft action plan based on its research that will make significant and lasting progress toward repairing public and private systematic discrimination. The Commission will also maintain communication with local municipalities focused on reparations to have coinciding efforts and, if possible, collaborate jointly. The Commission will update the Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Committee on Reparations bi-monthly. The draft action plan will include short-term, medium-term, and long-term recommendations. The Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Committee on Reparations consists of no more than two members of the Board of Supervisors, who will oversee the formation of the Reparations Commission, listening sessions, and receive reports on the creation of the draft action plan from the Commission. The initial appointments to the Reparations Commission will be completed by the Board of Supervisors no later than July 1, 2023. The Commission will present a draft action plan to the Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Committee no later than July 1, 2024, for final approval by the full Board of Supervisors. final approval by the full Board.

  • Objective: The Commission shall advise and assist the Board of Supervisors on matters relating to veterans and their families as may pertain to meeting their needs for veterans’ benefits, housing, food, shelter, transportation, and employment.
