It’s June 15th! After 15 difficult and trying months, the State’s economy reopens today.
Fully vaccinated Californians no longer need to wear masks in most cases, except in certain indoor situations such as hospitals and child care settings. Unvaccinated Californians should continue wearing masks in public (both indoors and outdoors). For additional guidance, please visit the Alameda County Beyond the Blueprint webpage. As we reopen, please be mindful that everyone will have different comfort levels with removing their masks in public. Please be kind and patient with one another as we adjust to a fully reopened economy.
To mark this milestone, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our essential workers for putting their health and safety at risk to keep Alameda County operating while also responding to an unprecedented public health emergency. Additionally, I would like to thank each of you for doing your part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for wearing masks, practicing social distancing, avoiding large gatherings, and getting vaccinated. It took each of us using all the tools at our disposal to get to this point.
The pandemic is not over. As we move forward with reopening, we must now set our sights on a safe and equitable recovery that supports the communities that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Everyone in Alameda County deserves the opportunity to live a safe and healthy life in a post-pandemic world.
